Syrian Foreign Minister Abdel Halim Khaddam flew into Jeddah from Kuwait and held talks with Saudi King Fahd, the Saudi Press Agency reported.
The agency SPA said Khaddam Sunday conveyed a message from President Hafez Assad of Syria dealing with Middle East developments.
Khaddam earlier Sunday paid a similar visit to Kuwait.
The Saudi newspaper Al Riyadh said Yasser Arafat, chief of the Palestine Liberation Organization, was expected to arrive in Jeddah early this week to brief Fahd on the latest meetings of the PLO’s Executive Committee.
Saudi Arabia has been trying to heal the rift between Arafat and the Syrian and Libyan-backed PLO mutineers.
