Syrian foreign minister Abdel Halim Khaddam arrived in Tehran Saturday for an official visit and talks with government leaders, Tehran radio said.
Khaddam and his accompanying delegation, including Syrian ministers of oil and finance, were met by Iranian Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Veleyti, the broadcast said.
Syria is the only Arab country which maintains close relations with Iran and supports Tehran’s war with Iraq — Syria’s main Arab opponent.
