Abdel Halim Khaddam accused the Syrian opposition of myopia in an interview with Radio Sawa. He expressed concern about the numerous conferences held by the opposition, labeling it as a negative phenomenon. However, he emphasized the importance of looking at the full side of the cup, as these conferences reflect the vitality of the Syrian opposition’s eagerness for change. He added that the judgment of any conference should be based on its results and recommendations.
Khaddam criticized the divisions within the Syrian opposition, referring to them as “details,” despite the existence of many shared slogans such as overthrowing the regime and advocating for a pluralistic civil state. He reiterated his call for international intervention in the Syrian crisis and launched a sharp attack on the Egyptian Secretary General of the League of Arab States, Nabil El-Araby, stating that he is merely an employee with the rank of ambassador and cannot provide cover for any Arab regime. Khaddam also criticized El-Araby’s visit to Damascus.
