Mr. Abdel Halim Khaddam received an Australian parliamentary delegation led by Ole Micallef and the delegation of the World Council of Lebanese Expatriates in Australia. They reviewed the situation in the region and the stalemate in the peace process due to the Israeli expansionist policy and the intransigence of the Israeli government. They discussed the Israeli government’s refusal to implement Security Council resolutions and abide by the peace terms of reference. The meeting was attended by Chairman of the Arab and Foreign Affairs Committee of the People’s Assembly Shaker Saeed and member of the People’s Assembly Hassan Sabahi.

Furthermore, the Governor of Quneitra, Dr. Walid Al-Booz, met with the Australian parliamentary delegation and briefed them on the reality of the deliberate brutal destruction and destruction of Quneitra city and 244 villages and farms that were victims of Israeli aggression. He pointed out the forced expulsion of residents from their homes and lands, the establishment of settlements, and the obliteration of their Arab monuments.

Dr. Al-Booz stressed that Syria, led by President Hafez Al-Assad, has the strategic goal of liberating every inch of the soil of the occupied territories and achieving a just and comprehensive peace in the region in accordance with the resolutions of international legitimacy.
