Syrian Vice President Abdel Halim Khaddam offered his condolences yesterday to the Hariri family and accused Israel of being behind his assassination.
Khaddam - after leaving Hariri’s residence in west Beirut accompanied by his two sons - described the Hariri assassination as a “hateful crime” that would only benefit “enemies like Israel.”
Khaddam told reporters that what happened was an attempt to strike national unity in Lebanon and sow division.
