The Syrian Foreign Minister, Abdel Nalim Khaddam, today concluded a series of talks on the Middle East in a one‐hour meeting with Secretary of State Kissinger at the White House.

No statement was issued after the meeting. Mr. Kissinger said earlier that it had never been intended to put out a communiqué on the talks, although communiqués were issued following talks here with King Hussein of Jordan and. Foreign Minister Ismail Fahmy of Egypt.

Today’s meeting was an addition to Mr. Khaddam’s schedule. Sitting in on the talks was the United States ambassador to Syria, Richard W. Murphy.

Officials said they did not view the absence of a communiqué or the additional meeting as a sign that the talks had foundered.

The series of discussions on the Middle East is intended to lay the groundwork for a new round of peace negotiations in Geneva. Two more visitors are scheduled—Foreign Minister Omar Saqqaf of Saudi Arabia and Premier Yitzhak Rabin of Israel.
