The Syrian Salvation Front, an opposition group, condemned the recent statements of the Syrian Vice President Farouk al-Sharaa regarding Saudi Arabia, considering them an extension of the previous attacks and campaigns launched by President Bashar al-Assad and Syrian intelligence agencies against the Kingdom and Arab leaders.

The Front, led by former Syrian Vice President-turned-defector Abdul-Halim Khaddam, stated in a statement distributed in London on Friday that the campaign is deliberate and calculated, not a slip of the tongue. It elucidates the true policy of the regime aimed at severing Syria’s ties with Arab countries, especially Saudi Arabia.

The Syrian Salvation Front considered that its country’s regime intends, through this, to justify linking Syria to the Iranian strategy. It added that the Syrian people, who appreciate the significant role played by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and its leadership in both the Arab and Islamic arenas, affirm to the Arab and Islamic public opinion that the ruling regime in Syria does not represent the views, feelings, or aspirations of the Syrians. It strongly condemns the policy aimed at isolating Syria from its Arab and Islamic surroundings and aligning completely with the Iranian strategy.

The Syrian Salvation Front called on the international community to boycott its country’s regime and stand by the Syrian people in what it termed their continuous ordeal with a regime it described as tyrannical.

The opposition group also urged human rights organizations worldwide to take a clear and public stance against the violation of citizenship rights and human rights by the Syrian regime. It called for overcoming the state of silence and covering up its political, humanitarian, and rights crimes against the Syrian people.

The Front, founded by Khaddam, the General Observer of the Muslim Brotherhood, Ali Sadreddine al-Bayanouni, and other dissidents in March of the previous year, condemned the Syrian regime for adding to the state of political repression and preventing the activities of intellectuals, students, and all segments of society. It accused the regime of besieging them in a state of oppression and canceling all aspects of freedom of expression and stifling freedoms, describing it as new and inhumane rituals, including preventing patients from receiving treatment.

The Syrian Salvation Front condemned the former deputy, Riad Seif, from traveling abroad for treatment, considering it an unethical act. It called on human rights organizations worldwide and in Arab countries to play their legal, humanitarian, and moral role by pressuring the Syrian regime to allow Deputy Seif to travel for treatment abroad and assist him in securing all the necessary medical requirements, as this represents his constitutional right, according to its expression.
