Dissident Syrian Vice President Abdel Halim Khaddam pointed out that President Bashar al-Assad was keen to hold the presidential elections “to spite the world,” and pointed out that “Iran was the one that brought ISIS” to his country, holding it and Russia “fundamentally responsible for the situation in Syria.” Syrian"

Khaddam (82 years old) said in an interview with the London newspaper Al-Sharq Al-Awsat published on Tuesday: “The paper that will go to the boxes has no value, and whoever chooses Bashar or someone else will do so under force or out of fear. Regarding who is responsible for the destruction happening now in Syria, Khaddam said: “There are two main sides responsible: Russia, Iran, and the regime on the one hand, and in return the Arab community on the other side. He explained that Iran is not primarily looking for reconciliation with the Gulf, but rather “it is only looking for a temporary calm until it ends the Syrian crisis, and then it will turn to other countries to ignite conflict, led by Bahrain, and will support the Houthis in Yemen to cause unrest on the Saudi borders.
