Saudi journalist Sultan Al-Qahtani hosted former Syrian Vice President Abdul Haleem Khaddam in the first episode of his new program “Hadith Al-Umr” (Life Talk), where Khaddam revealed aspects of the Syrian crisis.
In a dialogue with Al-Qahtani, aired on Rotana Khaleejia channel, the former Syrian Vice President stated that Iran is the most dangerous factor in the region and for itself. He mentioned that Iran manages the political affairs in Syria with the support of Russia.
Khaddam added to the Saudi journalist that Syrians did not request military forces from the Arab or international community, and so far, no real operation has been conducted to support them.
In the “Hadith Al-Umr” program, which showcases the lives of prominent Gulf and Arab figures, Khaddam explained that after his defection, he sent messages to Arab leaders explaining the Syrian situation and the people’s suffering. He warned that the ongoing situation would lead to a crisis, but no one paid attention to what he said, and the crisis unfolded.
The former Syrian Vice President urged the countries in the region to express gratitude to the Syrian people for their resilience and sectarian resistance.
Khaddam pointed out that Bashar al-Assad once told a friend when asked about the revolution, that he would confront it with force, and if he failed, he would establish his state on the Syrian coast. Assad allegedly said, “I am eating and drinking from Iran, my weapons are from Russia, and I can kill people without being held accountable for my actions.”
Khaddam denied to the program “Hadith Al-Umr” the existence of a political solution with a dictatorial regime that employs methods of killing and destruction, emphasizing that the solution is to support the Syrian people, saying they will “remove the thorn with their own hands.”
He affirmed that if the Americans wanted to end the Syrian crisis, they could do so in two days, and three strikes on Assad’s forces would make him and his army flee.
Regarding the situation in Libya, he noted that the pressure from Arab countries on America and Europe is the reason for the military coalition against Gaddafi’s regime.
He pointed out that Hezbollah is one of Iran’s most important tools in the region and has established sleeper cells in the Arab and foreign world for the benefit of Iran.
He accused Iran of arming and training the Houthis until they now encircle the Arabian Peninsula from north to south.
He said, “If Bashar al-Assad falls in Syria, Hezbollah in Lebanon falls with him, and Iran falls in Iraq.”
He emphasized that the regime that conspires against the people and uses missiles and artillery for killing and destruction is not a governing system but a murderer. He noted that when he left Syria, there were about 60,000 officers, 85% of whom were Alawites, so the military forces are still loyal to the regime.
