Jintao held intensive talks with Syrian President Bashar al-Assad and his deputy Abdul Halim Khaddam, as well as senior Syrian officials. During these talks, the Chinese side affirmed that their country will exert all efforts with the international community in the future to achieve a just and comprehensive peace in the region and support the Arabs in their efforts to reclaim their lands occupied by Israel since 1967. In the bilateral field, during the visit, the two sides signed two agreements: the first for economic and technical cooperation, and the second whereby China grants Syria a loan of 30 million Chinese yuan without interest for developmental purposes.
