“Fares and his son received Khaddam and Brigadier General Kanaan. The Syrian Vice President, Abdel Halim Khaddam, visited Deputy Prime Minister Issam Fares at his residence in the town of Beino in Akkar in the morning. He was accompanied by Brigadier General Ghazi Kanaan, the head of the Security and Intelligence Agency of the Syrian Arab Forces, Lebanese Defense Minister Khail El Harawi, as well as the two deputies, Asaad Hardan and Asem Qanso. Also in attendance were the head of the Syrian security department in Akkar, Colonel Mohammad Mefleh, and the head of the Syrian security department in Tripoli, Colonel Mohammad Khallouf. Additionally, Khaddam’s son, Mr. Jihad, and Fares’ son, Mr. Najad, were present.

Khaddam and the accompanying delegation began their visit with a tour of Beino, during which they were briefed on the town’s projects and achievements, particularly the lake project and the nature reserve initiated by Fares.

Following the tour, Fares hosted the delegation for a morning breakfast meal. Afterward, they headed to Tripoli to participate in the festival commemorating the memory of the late President Martyr Rashid Karami.”
