The Iranian foreign minister, Kamal Kharrazi has continued his discussions with senior Syrian leaders on the situation in Lebanon.
After a meeting in Damascus with vice-president Abdelhalim Khaddam, Mr Kharrazi reaffirmed that Iran and Syria were opposed to conditions set by Israel for a troop withdrawal from southern Lebanon.
Israel has said it’s willing to withdraw provided the Lebanese authorities can guarantee the security of the Israeli border.
Mr Kharrazi also held talks on Sunday with his Syrian counterpart, Faruq al-Shara.
He’s due to go to Beirut later today.
