Khaddam arrives in Sanaa and meets with President Ali Abdullah Saleh

Yemeni President Ali Abdullah Saleh received a message from his Syrian counterpart Bashar al-Assad concerning fraternal relations, areas of cooperation, and ways to strengthen and develop them, in addition to discussing the ongoing developments in the region. The message was conveyed by Syrian Vice President Abdul Halim Khaddam, who had arrived in Sanaa earlier in the day and was received by the Yemeni President.

During the meeting, attended by Yemeni Vice President Abd-Rabbu Mansour Hadi, various bilateral issues were discussed, as well as updates on regional, Arab, and international developments. The discussions included the current situations in occupied Palestine and Iraq, as well as the coordination of the positions of both countries towards these issues.

The two sides also addressed Arab efforts and initiatives, including the Yemeni initiative, aimed at activating joint Arab action and developing national mechanisms that meet the hopes and aspirations of the Arab nation in solidarity, unity, and economic integration. The goal is to enhance the ability of the Arab nation to confront challenges and safeguard its interests.
