Khaddam assures the Iraqi Senate delegation of Syria’s steadfastness in the face of external pressure

Syrian Vice President Abdel Halim Khaddam emphasized that the ongoing threats and pressures against Syria will not deter the country from pursuing its national policies.

Following a meeting with a delegation representing the Senate of Iraq, Khaddam stated that Syria is committed to developing relations with Iraq and that it is natural for both nations to work together in various fields. He particularly highlighted the importance of supporting the Iraqi people in reclaiming their sovereignty and establishing an independent and fully sovereign state.

During the discussion with the delegation, led by Council Secretary General Aqeel Al-Khatib, Khaddam reaffirmed Syria’s solidarity with the brotherly Iraqi people and their efforts to overcome their challenges. He emphasized the necessity for Iraqis to maintain their national unity. Khaddam attentively listened to the delegation’s account of the daily hardships faced by the Iraqi people and commended Syria’s consistent stance on various Arab issues, including its support for the people of Iraq.
