The former Vice President of Syria, Abdel Halim Khaddam, emphasized the importance of a “national” change in Syria that comes “through the people,” despite the obstacles created by the regime and the fear instilled in citizens.

In a letter addressed to Syrians yesterday, Khaddam explained that the “National Salvation Front,” which he founded with the Comptroller General of the Muslim Brotherhood in Syria Ali Sadreddin Bayanouni and other opponents, “has developed a program based on breaking the wall of fear among Syrians by campaigning against the president of the regime (Assad) and his family, exposing corruption and repression, and breaking the prestige of the regime president and the regime’s power.”

Meanwhile, the Muslim Brotherhood in Syria believes that a “democratic, free, and unified Lebanon” is the solution and demand for all Lebanese, calling on them to seek help from constitutional institutions.

In a statement issued in London yesterday, the group said, “Lebanon cannot be considered Lebanon if any team, regardless of its size and number, thinks that it has the right to take over Lebanon’s state, sovereignty, and decisions, or that democracy can be achieved through street protests rather than through the ballot box.”
