The delegation of the “Islamic Assembly Movement” that visited Damascus two days ago quoted Syrian Vice President Mr. Abdel Halim Khaddam as stating, “The names that arrived in Damascus were not shared with the national and Islamic leaders, despite these leaders being the actual partners of the other political team. Engaging in the game of naming individuals again is considered(stones cooking ) counterproductive.”

According to the delegation, Khaddam emphasized that “the Lebanese regime has undergone a test and an experience. Along with the problems it has caused among the Lebanese, it has allowed the Israeli enemy to reach Deir al-Ashayr and the first Arab capital, Beirut, while certain Lebanese factions cheered for its entrance and provided assistance.” He explained that “Syria views the Lebanese issue from the perspective of its national security. It cannot allow the situation in Lebanon to deteriorate and collapse due to the shared interests and brotherhood between the people of both countries.”

He stated, “Syria is not a party to the conflict in Lebanon. The conflicting parties are the people of Lebanon, who must reach an agreement on all necessary reforms and establish a society of justice and equality, ensuring the fulfillment of all Lebanese people’s rights. The people of Syria and Lebanon are one people living in two countries. The more Lebanese citizens access their rights, and the more stable the regime in Lebanon, the better it is for Damascus in defending against conspiracies targeting the Lebanese arena and subsequently affecting Syria and other Arab arenas.”
