Abdul Halim Khaddam, a prominent politician who defected from the Syrian regime, said today, Wednesday, in a telephone interview with Al-Arabiya channel: I advise Assad to flee to Russia, stressing that the regime will fall due to the assassination of the first-line leaders represented by the Minister of Defense, the Minister of Interior, and the Deputy Chief of Staff.

When asked about Assad's reaction to this operation that targeted his Minister of Defense, Interior, and his son-in-law, he said: There is a great possibility that Assad will make a severe reaction, but it will result in a more severe reaction by the Free Syrian Army.
Khaddam continued: This operation is not a suicide operation by the regime, as some media outlets said, but rather an operation by the Free Army, where explosives were inserted into the meeting room of the National Security building very tightly.

Reuters says: The perpetrator of the operation works as a bodyguard in the circle close to Bashar al-Assad, and there are reports that he carried out the operation with an explosive belt.

Syrian official television reported a few hours ago that a suicide bombing targeted the National Security building in Damascus, killing the Minister of Defense, the Minister of Interior, the Deputy Chief of Staff, and Assad's son-in-law.
