Yesterday afternoon, the Vice President of the Republic, Abdel Halim Khaddam, received Armenian Orthodox Patriarch Aram I accompanied by the Patriarchal Deputy of the Diocese of Damascus, Archbishop Sibuh Sarkisian. During the meeting, they discussed the situation in the region, particularly the aggressive Israeli policy that led to the suspension of the peace process. Catholicos Aram I praised the role of Syria and its president, Hafez Al-Assad.
