Khaddam Syria still ready to make peace with Israel in case of withdrawal beyond 1967 borders

Abdel Halim Khaddam, Syria's vice president, confirmed today that his country is still ready to make peace with Israel if it withdraws beyond the 1967 borders. He called for all possible support to be given to the Dr. Bashar al-Assad, commander of the Syrian army. armed forces, in this sensitive stage that Syria is going through, and to work with all possible means, and to be at its side in the next stage, because it requires effort, cooperation, work and honesty of everyone's share.

Mr. Abdel Halim Khaddam declared during the interventions of the political committee that he chairs the ninth national conference of the ruling Ba'ath Party, that Syria's position is firm on justice and global peace if Israel meets the constants set by the late President Hafez. al-Assad, which are a just and comprehensive peace based on the resolutions of international legitimacy and the principle of "land for peace" and the withdrawal of Israel to the line of June 4, 1967. Khaddam added that Syria is committed to peace process as a strategic option. for this if the appropriate conditions are met to realize this option.
