Khaddam: Change in our country must be national and through the people, despite the obstacles created by the regime and the fear it has instilled in the minds of citizens. In a message addressed to Syrians, Khaddam stated that the “National Salvation Front,” an opposition group, has developed a program aimed at breaking the fear barrier among Syrians. This includes campaigning against the head of the regime and his family, exposing corruption and oppression, and undermining the authority of the regime. The program also involves mobilizing citizens by discussing domestic conditions, poverty, unemployment, declining living standards, rising prices, corruption, and the concentration of wealth within the ruling family. The Front’s actions inside the country involve influential groups in various Syrian cities, preparing for the launch of a massive popular movement.

Khaddam emphasized that these groups are not aligned with political parties but have their popular bases. He considered President Bashar al-Assad to be the biggest helper of the National Salvation Front due to the mistakes he commits and the risky political decisions he makes, which have increased his Arab and international isolation and heightened Syrians’ concerns about the regime.

He stated that the National Salvation Front is committed to avoiding sectarian tensions that threaten national unity, and it aims to engage all segments of Syrian society in the process of change. The Front does not seek change through a military coup because it does not want to replace a military regime with another military regime. Instead, it is committed to restoring the reputation of the army as an institution responsible for protecting the nation.
