Former Syrian Vice President Abdel Halim Khaddam said that the hour of the fall of the Syrian regime is inevitably coming, and he summarized what the protests have reached in Syria, saying that there is a peaceful revolution for a people who yearn for change, and a regime that has expired, is doing nothing but deceiving itself and consuming its illusions about the existence of foreign conspiracies targeting The country

Khaddam, who is currently residing in Paris, added that the accumulation of oppression, persecution, suppression of freedoms, and the adoption of a policy of isolation, exclusion, discrimination, and attacks on the dignity of citizens led to the maturation of the spirit of change among the youth of Syria, noting that this was strengthened after the success of the youth revolutions in Tunisia and Egypt.
Khaddam accused the Syrian regime of depriving citizens of their basic rights and of corruption of the ruling family and most of the security, administrative, military and judicial positions in the country, which led to the spread of poverty for more than four decades.
