Today, King Fahd bin Abdulaziz,  received two messages from Egyptian President Mohamed Hosni Mubarak and Syrian President Bashar Al-Assad. The letters were delivered by Egyptian Foreign Minister Ahmed Maher and Syrian Vice President Abdel Halim Khaddam during their separate meetings with King Fahd.

According to the Saudi Press Agency, the Syrian Vice President discussed with King Fahd the latest developments in Arab, Islamic, and international events, as well as bilateral relations and ways to support and strengthen them in all areas.

Earlier in the day, the Syrian Vice President met with Crown Prince, Deputy Prime Minister, and Chief of the Saudi National Guard Prince Abdullah bin Abdulaziz and delivered a similar message from President Al-Assad. The Saudi agency reported that during his meeting, the Egyptian Foreign Minister conveyed the greetings and appreciation of Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak and the Egyptian people. However, no further details were provided.
