Dear brothers and sisters in beloved Syria and in the diaspora,

The month of April carries many memories, as it is the month that distinguished itself with the departure of foreign colonizers and the attainment of freedom by the Syrians after a long and arduous struggle by all segments of the Syrian people.

The Syrian people are known for their adherence to their values and national principles. However, what we are witnessing today, both externally and internally, are conspiracies that have led to conflicts that should never have occurred.

These conflicts have resulted in the deaths of hundreds of thousands of our people and the displacement of millions abroad, forcing them to live in dire conditions. Ultimately, these conflicts will lead to the fragmentation of the homeland into sectarian and ethnic enclaves that were never part of the Syrian people’s history.

Modern Syria was built on the shoulders of its Muslim sons, including Sunnis, Alawites, Shiites, Ismailis, and Druze, as well as our Christian brethren of all denominations. It was also built by the sons of Arabs, Kurds, Turkmen, and Assyrians.

Contemporary Syria is this united, intertwined, harmonious, and loving fabric. The conspiracies we witness today to undermine this Syrian tapestry will undoubtedly lead to the end of the Syria we have lived in, loved, and cherished.

I appeal to our united Syrian people to work towards restoring unity among all Syrians. Attempts to divide Syria into enclaves will not succeed, as the unity of the Syrian people will thwart all conspiracies against our country and our people.

We all fully realize that Syria was the jewel of the East and was stronger and more beautiful before these destructive events. Therefore, I call upon all my brothers, comrades, and fellow citizens to strengthen our unity to combat the conspiracies against the unity of our nation and our people.

Abdulhalim Khaddam
