The opposition group “Salvation Front” announced the launch of a peaceful campaign aimed at confronting the regime, stopping its continuous disregard for the people and their future, and preserving the unity of the people, the country, and its supreme interests.
The front, founded by former Vice President Abdelhalim Khaddam, General Supervisor of the Muslim Brotherhood group Ali Sadreddine al-Bayanouni, and other opponents, stated in a statement yesterday that it would initiate a comprehensive plan, including peaceful sit-ins and the distribution of statements encouraging all Syrians to block roads against the regime.
It emphasized the importance of national unity, maintaining civil peace, and called on all opposition factions, including Kurdish movement parties, to break the fear barrier and start peaceful movements from Damascus and various regions, demanding rights, bread, freedom, security, and dignity for the great Syrian people.
The goal is to get rid of the regime and enter a new phase towards a civil democratic state where citizens are equal in rights and duties, enhancing the bonds of common living.
The opposition parties were also urged to adhere to peaceful civilian forms of protest, not disrupting public security, in their pursuit of peaceful democratic change.
The movement is seen as ongoing until the end of the regime, injustice, marginalization, and the restoration of unity among the people.
The statement called on the army to assume its responsibilities and not stand in defense of corrupt individuals rejected by the people.
It also urged the police to remain neutral in facing their peaceful confrontation with Bashar al-Assad’s regime.
The people were called upon not to pay bribes, and the youth were advised not to join mandatory service to work as servants under corrupt officers.
Additionally, the authorities were called upon to release all prisoners of conscience immediately and not to tamper with the lives of national figures and the components of the Syrian people in all its sects.
