The United Press International news agency, citing a diplomatic source in London, has reported that Saudi King Abdullah and Crown Prince Sultan met with former Syrian Vice President Abdel Halim Khaddam.

According to the source, the meeting between the Saudi king, crown prince, and Khaddam took place last Tuesday.

An official from the National Salvation Front clarified that Khaddam is currently visiting Saudi Arabia to perform Umrah, a religious pilgrimage. The official added that Khaddam’s visit was not coordinated with any party and was solely for the purpose of performing Umrah rituals. Additionally, Ali Sadruddin Al-Bayanouni, the Comptroller General of the Muslim Brotherhood, happened to be there coincidentally for the same reason. However, the official emphasized that they could neither confirm nor deny whether Khaddam met with the Saudi king and crown prince, as reported by Al-Safir newspaper in its latest issue.

The official further stated that the Front is planning to open an office in Washington to primarily engage with the Syrian community and the American administration. The goal is to articulate the Front’s perspective and its objective of bringing about change in Syria to establish a democratic system based on peaceful and democratic principles.

Furthermore, the General Secretariat of the Salvation Front, during its meeting held in Brussels last month, decided to establish a political media office in Washington. Currently, plans are being developed to secure an appropriate location and allocate the necessary funds. The office will be managed by members of the General Secretariat, namely Najib Al-Ghadban and Hussam Al-Deri, along with Ammar Abdel Hamid.
