Ahmed Qaddaf Al-Damam in Syria and Khaddam in Libya

Assad received Ahmed Qaddaf Al-Damam, the envoy of the leader of the Libyan revolution, Colonel Muammar Gaddafi. They discussed the current Arab situation in anticipation of the Beirut summit.

The Libyan envoy also held meetings with Syrian Vice President Abdel Halim Khaddam and Foreign Minister Farouq Al-Shara. Following his visit to Damascus, Gaddafi of Blood proceeded to Beirut, where he is scheduled to meet with President of the Republic, General Emile Lahoud, today.

Meanwhile, in other Arab developments, Khaddam is set to travel to Libya and Algeria on the coming Saturday, carrying messages from President Assad to Colonel Gaddafi and President Abdelaziz Bouteflika. During his visits, Khaddam will engage in discussions regarding the preparations for the Beirut Summit and the Saudi initiative.
