Habib meets with Syrian officials

Presidential envoy Philip Habib met Syrian officials Tuesday amid charges by the state-run media that the United States favored Israel and had encouraged uprisings by anti-government Moslem extremists.

Habib’s talks with Foreign Minister Abdel Halim Khaddam were expected to include discussion of the tense situation in south Lebanon and Israel’s annexation of the Syrian Golan Heights last December.
