Syria affirmed its support for the Palestinian uprising.
Abdul-Halim Khaddam, the Syrian Vice President, expressed Syria’s backing for the Palestinian people’s uprising and emphasized the necessity of implementing Arab Summit resolutions, supporting the Arab street, and severing all forms of relations with Israel. This came during a meeting between Khaddam and Nayef Hawatmeh, the Secretary-General of the Democratic Front for the Liberation of Palestine. The discussion focused on the evolution of the uprising and the pressures of the war and aggression exerted by Israeli forces against the Palestinian people. Both sides emphasized the need to correct Syrian-Palestinian relations and foster mutual solidarity between Palestine and neighboring Arab countries, namely Egypt, Jordan, Syria, and Lebanon, to strengthen the resilience and continuity of the uprising and build genuine Arab solidarity to halt Israeli aggression.
