The former vice president of Syria, Abdul-Halim Khaddam, considers that “the Syrian regime is no longer capable of continuing, expecting it to fall within a few months.” He points out that “the Syrian army has begun to disintegrate and feel fatigue, and the officers loyal to it are wondering where Bashar al-Assad, his brother Maher, and his family are leading us?”
Khaddam emphasized in a television interview yesterday that the Assad regime is trying to appear strong, but it is fearful, and its fate is the fate of tyrants worldwide. As for the Syrian people, he believes they are capable of persevering and challenging through the strength of resilience and sacrifice from the side of the Syrian revolutionary forces.
Khaddam pointed out that “the request to send Arab forces to Syria reminds us of the situation in Lebanon during the civil war, and its purpose is to perpetuate the bloodshed, yielding negative results, including giving the regime more opportunities and plotting to kill innocent Syrian civilians.” He explained that the Syrian crisis will not be resolved without international intervention.
