The Syrian Deputy Premier and Foreign Minister, Abdel Halim Khaddam, conferred with his Egyptian counterpart, Ismael Fahmy, in Cairo on Friday (November 16), to discuss the summit meeting of Arab leaders to be held later this month in Algiers. Colonel Gaddafi, who will attend the conference, has criticised President Sadat for making decisions on the conflict with Israel without proper consultation with other Arab leaders. Recently, Egyptian newspapers have warned of the need to maintain Arab unity at the Arab summit.
