Vice President of Syria, Abdul Halim Khaddam, arrived in the Chinese capital today on an official visit lasting five days. During his visit, he will hold talks with senior Chinese officials on various international issues.

The Chinese state news agency, Xinhua, stated that this visit is part of the bilateral exchange between the two countries to strengthen their friendship and cooperation.

Khaddam’s visit, in response to an invitation from the Chinese Vice President, Jin Tao, will include discussions with Chinese officials to enhance bilateral relations and address the latest developments in the Middle East, along with issues of mutual interest.

This visit comes as a response to the visit made by the Chinese Vice President to Damascus in January of last year, during which several economic and technical agreements were signed.
