The Syrian opposition coalition led by Abdul Halim Khaddam, former deputy to the Syrian president, has called on the British Prime Minister David Cameron to use military force to overthrow the Syrian President Bashar al-Assad.

Talal al-Turkawi, head of the “National Authority for Supporting the Syrian Revolution,” was quoted by the Syrian electronic news site Sham Press as saying in a message sent today, Wednesday, to Cameron, “The people are not only facing the oppressive regime, but also confronting the alliance between Iran and Russia, aimed at gaining control of the region and its strategic location and natural resources, including oil, with the goal of controlling the global economy and putting your country under one of two options: either accepting the decisions of this alliance or war against Iran.”

He added, “A courageous decision taken by your country and a group of aware countries about the danger of this alliance, whose main tool now is the Syrian regime, requires the use of military force to overthrow it and enable the Syrian people to achieve their aspirations, which will make the region more secure and stable and will free Lebanon, Iraq, and Syria from Iranian domination, as well as other countries in the region from the fear of the growing Iranian influence.”

He continued, “The Syrian people today place you in front of a historical responsibility to make the right decision to save them and achieve security, stability, and peace in the region, including positive achievements in international security, peace, and the global economy.”
