Mr. Barack Obama, Mr.  Nicolas Sarkozy, Mr. David Cameron,  Mr. Ban Ki-moon

Greeting,

I am writing this letter to express the deep-seated fear felt by Syrians for the future of their country, which is currently enduring unimaginable atrocities of genocide and brutal repression. Bashar Al-Assad is now committing a grave crime by deliberately fueling a sectarian war in Syria, with the ultimate goal of establishing an Alawite state in areas predominantly inhabited by Alawites. The following information confirms these disturbing developments:

Firstly, there has been a distribution of weapons in Alawite areas, coupled with the training of young Alawites to bear arms and engage in combat under the supervision of experts from Iran and Hezbollah. Secondly, the majority of the Syrian army’s weapons, including rockets and artillery, along with their ammunition, have been transferred to coastal areas, particularly in the mountains. Thirdly, there has been a relocation of warplanes to Lattakia airport. Moreover, in an interview with one of his Lebanese allies while discussing the situation in Syria, Bashar Al-Assad explicitly stated his refusal to surrender and his determination to escalate the conflict into a sectarian war, planning to establish his Alawite state on the coast.

Mr. President, the fragmentation of Syria and the ignition of a sectarian war will have far-reaching consequences, not only for Syrians but also for the entire region. Arab nations will suffer immense damage, and international peace and security will be jeopardized as extremist forces gain momentum. Extremism knows no boundaries.

Numerous questions arise within Syrian society, as well as among the majority of Arab peoples, regarding the silence of certain countries, the surprising hesitancy of others, and the delay in making decisive decisions to restrain this regime from its brutal practices, as was done in Libya. It is evident that the Assad regime is even more brutal than the Gaddafi regime and its supporters.

Mr. President, we implore you to recognize the gravity of this information and take action to form an international military coalition that can save Syria and, consequently, the entire region. It is crucial to consider the Iranian-Russian alliance that supports Bashar Al-Assad’s crimes and seeks to gain control over the Middle East, its resources, international trade routes, and its strategically important location between three continents. Controlling the Middle East translates to controlling the global economy and imposing harsh economic conditions on industrialized nations.

Therefore, we call upon everyone to assume their responsibilities, particularly those who uphold and advocate for human rights. It is widely acknowledged that the world has become interconnected. Saving Syria equates to preserving the security and stability of the region, international security and stability, as well as maintaining existing relationships and mutual interests between regional countries and nations worldwide, including your own.

We extend our gratitude for your efforts and decisions aimed at assisting the Syrian people in their time of need.

Thank you.

Former Vice President of the Syrian Arab Republic

Abdel Halim Khaddam
