Some media outlets cooperating with the Syrian intelligence services publish a set of lies about meetings between Mr. Abdul Halim Khaddam and Israeli figures.

The media office of Mr. Abdel Halim Khaddam announces the following

1- He categorically denies this news completely and in detail, and it is part of a campaign of slander to insult his national history.

2- The Syrians, especially the leadership of the Baath Party, know the positions of Mr. Abdul Halim Khaddam, which had a major role in preventing the involvement of the late President Hafez al-Assad by offering geographical, water, and security concessions to the Israelis in two stages of negotiations in “1995-1996 and 1999-2000,” during the stage in which he was working. To prepare for the transfer of power to his son, Bashar al-Assad
Mr. Abdel Halim Khaddam also mentions the members of the party’s leadership at the time during the regional leadership meeting in late 1999, during which Foreign Minister Farouk al-Sharaa gave a presentation on the negotiations with Barak in Washington and informed the leadership that Barak admired President al-Assad and considered him the most important head of state in the region after Muawiyah. This reflects Israeli satisfaction. Which was formed through side contacts and through the Foreign Minister’s meetings with the Israelis, and in the aforementioned meeting, Mr. Abdel Halim Khaddam strongly opposed the concessions that were intended to be made, which led to changing directions and disrupting the negotiations.
3 - The Israelis are keen on the continuation of the tyrannical family system at the behest of the country because it has done and is doing everything that would weaken Syria and increase its inability to protect itself, liberate its land, and preserve its dignity.

The regime that oppresses the Syrians, turns Syria into a large prison, spreads corruption, poverty, and unemployment, and weakens the Arab countries, especially Syria, dismantling its national unity and encouraging corruption in it, renders the country unable to protect itself and preserve its dignity. This is what the authoritarian regime in Syria has done and is doing.
4 - Whoever serves Israel is the regime that weakened the armed forces, broke its rules of discipline, instilled fear in its officers, and deprived it of all means that would make the army

Capable of protecting the homeland

Marginalizing the armed forces, playing with them, and weakening their capabilities is an Israeli goal achieved by the ruling authority in Syria

5 - Taking major dangerous decisions in an emotional manner and for the sake of special and narrow interests by the president of the regime increased the danger facing Syria and led to the humiliation of the armed forces in the way they withdrew from Lebanon.
Also, the policies adopted by its security services in brotherly Lebanon led to the distortion of Syrian-Lebanese relations and put brotherly Lebanon on the brink of explosion. The question is: Is there a better service than this service provided to Israel?

6 - These slanders and poisonous campaigns launched by the regime against Mr. Abdul Halim Khaddam, in addition to the arrest campaigns against intellectuals, thinkers and politicians in Syria, coupled with the instilling of fear in the country, will all increase the resolve of the Syrians to achieve the change they seek, get rid of the system of corruption and tyranny, and build a democratic system in which the people are The true source of power
