SECRETARY OF THE EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE OF THE PALESTINIAN LIBERATION ORGANIZATION (PLO) MAHMOUD ABBAS "ABU MAZEN" MET HERE MONDAY THE SYRIAN VICE PRESIDENT ABDELHALIM KHADDAM FOR TALKS ON MEANS TO SUPPORT THE PALESTINIAN INTIFADHA.
ABU MAZEN TOLD REPORTERS HE DISCUSSED WITH KHADDAM A POSSIBLE VISIT BY PALESTINIAN LEADER YASSER ARAFAT TO SYRIA AND OTHER ISSUES RELATED TO THE CONTINUOUS ISRAELI AGGRESSION AGAINST THE PALESTINIAN PEOPLE.
HE ALSO TOLD KHADDAM ABOUT THE ISRAELI-PALESTINIAN TALKS HELD IN CAMP DAVID AND THE ISRAELI PROPOSALS PUT FORWARD THEN.
ASKED WHY ARAFAT HAS NOT YET VISITED SYRIA, ABU MAZEN ONLY SAID, "WE TALKED ABOUT THIS SUBJECT WITH THE (SYRIAN) VICE PRESIDENT.
ABU MAZEN ARRIVED HERE SUNDAY ON A THREE-DAY VISIT. HE IS ALSO DUE TO MEET SYRIAN FOREIGN MINISTER FAROUQ AL-SHARA.
