Syrian Vice-president Khaddam, meets Iraqi Kurds delegation

DAMASCUS, Aug 1 (KUNA) — Vice-President Abdul Halim Khaddam on Sunday received a delegation of Iraq’s Kurdistan Democratic Party headed by Nijervan al-Barzani, member of the Partys Politburo. According to the Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA), both sides reviewed the situation in Iraq, suffering of the Iraqi people, importance of enhancing the countrys national unity and Syrias keenness on giving a hand to the brotherly people of Iraq to enable them restore sovereignty and independence and end the occupation. In statements after the meeting, al-Barzani described his talks with Khaddam as positive and dealt with Syrias keenness to help the brotherly Iraqi people to maintain the unity of their lands, independence and sovereignty.
