Syrian Vice President Abdul Halim Khaddam discussed today with the delegation of the Kurdistan Democratic Party in Iraq, headed by Nechirvan Barzani, a member of the party’s political bureau, the situation in Iraq, the suffering of its people, and the importance of strengthening national unity in Iraq.
Syria was keen to extend a helping hand to the brotherly Iraqi people to enable them to regain their sovereignty and independence and end the occupation. In his statements after the meeting, Barzani described his talks with Khaddam as positive and addressed Syria’s keenness to help the brotherly Iraqi people preserve their territorial integrity, independence and sovereignty.
