Dear brothers and sisters, sons of Syria,
After the speech delivered by the notorious Bashar Al-Assad on the 6th of this month, along with his brutal campaigns against the Syrian people and their revolution, as well as against the Arab and foreign countries that condemned him and called for his overthrow, many are questioning the reasons behind the military and political escalation in the behavior of the tyrant Bashar Al-Assad. While numerous countries advocate for a political solution, it is puzzling why the tyrant continues to escalate militarily, utilizing all types of weapons, including chemical weapons.
Bashar Al-Assad is convinced that the Arab countries that played a significant role in forming the international military coalition against Muammar Gaddafi will not take similar action in the Syrian crisis. The major countries that formed the coalition in the Libyan crisis will not unite to form a military coalition to save the Syrian people. Therefore, the military and political escalations aim to exert immense pressure on the revolution and the Syrian people, coercing them into accepting solutions that safeguard the regime’s interests. It is crucial to note that the option of escalation was not Bashar Al-Assad’s decision alone but rather the choice of the tripartite alliance comprising Iran, Russia, and the regime. These two countries have strategic objectives in Syria and the region. Iran seeks to establish its influence in Lebanon, Syria, Iraq, and extend its reach to Bahrain, Yemen, and certain Gulf countries. Russia, aspiring to regain its status as a global power, has a vested interest in this alliance, which reinstates its influence in Syria. Additionally, its partnership with Iran enables it to exert control over the Arabian Gulf, the Indian Ocean, and Central Asia.
It is worth mentioning that the UN envoy, Lakhdar Brahimi, remains determined to fulfill his duties despite the fact that the tyrant Bashar Al-Assad has effectively nullified this mission through his recent statement. Brahimi’s call to implement the Geneva Convention, which does not address Bashar Al-Assad directly but rather proposes the formation of a government comprising both the regime and the opposition, reveals the gravity of the situation in Syria and the future of its people. It is noteworthy that a faction of the Syrian opposition has expressed acceptance of Lakhdar Brahimi’s initiative, which entails the establishment of a transitional government with authority and capabilities, excluding Bashar Al-Assad. However, the opposition has not yet announced who will form this government, nor has it taken into account that accepting this initiative could lead to the survival of the murderous regime and the reinstatement of Bashar Al-Assad if he agrees to step down.
The formation of a coalition government must consider that the faction loyal to Bashar Al-Assad within this government will impede progress and hinder measures taken against him and his regime. The illusion of “bloodless hands” is a pathway to a solution that would end the revolution at the expense of the blood of martyrs, without realizing the danger this poses to the country’s future. Those who claim to have senior figures in the regime with unsoiled hands should present their names to the Syrian people because it is only the people who have the right to make decisions, sons of Syria. Beware of those who often sell their intentions as goodwill. It is essential to reject solutions that do not serve the Syrian people and their revolution. You, the Syrians, have fought for freedom, justice, and the right to self-determination, not for stages that increase the losses suffered by the Syrian people. You have bravely confronted an unjust and dark aggression and have succeeded in strengthening your journey. Victory is on the horizon, God willing.
